Extraaxial cavernous hemangioma with hemorrhage.

چکیده
Intracranial cavernomas, initially described as rare lesions [1], have been seen with increasing frequency since the advent of MR imaging [2-5]. MR features of cavernomas are highly suggestive of the diagnosis, although not pathognomonic. Cavernomas are classically intraparenchymal lesions and occult to angiography. They have a pseudotumoral growth [6] and a low potential for life-threatening hemorrhage, at least in supratentorial locations [7]. We report a case of a vascular lesion in an atypical location that was identified as a cavernous hemangioma. The lesion arose in the perimesencephalic cistern, and was accompanied by symptoms of acute onset of diplopia and meningeal signs. Extracerebral cavernous hemangiomas, as reported in the literature, have slightly different clinical, angiographic, and surgical features compared with intraparenchymal lesions, and can easily be misdiagnosed as meningioma unless MR imaging is performed.

Extraaxial parasellar cavernous hemangioma.
Intracranial cavernous hemangiomas (cavernomas) are uncommon vascular hamartomas that develop infrequently in an extracerebrallocation, with the middle cranial fossa being the most frequently reported site [1, 2]. Accurate presurgical diagnosis is not often achieved, and because of their location and propensity to bleed profusely during surgery, these tumors are usually impossible to resect com...
متن کاملThe first report on epicardial cavernous hemangioma in farmed sturgeon, Acipenser baerii, a microscopic survey
Haemangioma is a benign tumor of vascular endothelial cells or their progenitors. In spring of 2016, an Acipenser baerii, (+3 years, 2.2 kg weight) was reffered to the Department of Aquatic Animal Health, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz. After dissection it was found that the heart had a cobblestone appearance which was characterized by multiple dark red cysts...
متن کاملAre cavernous sinus hemangiomas and cavernous malformations different entities?
Cavernous hemangiomas that occur within the cavernous sinus (CS) are different from cerebral cavernous malformations (CMs) clinically, on imaging studies, and in their response to treatment. Moreover, CMs are true vascular malformations, whereas hemangiomas are benign vascular tumors. Because of these differences, the authors suggest that these two entities be analyzed and grouped separately. U...
متن کاملGenital tract cavernous hemangioma as a rare cause of postpartum hemorrhage
Cavernous hemangiomas rarely involve the female genital tract. It is difficult to identify vascular malformations when these lesions are concealed in the vagina or deep vulva area. We present a rare case of vaginal cavernous hemangioma in a 30-year-old primiparous woman with an early severe postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) and delayed continuous bleeding from the episiotomy site. She was treated suc...
متن کاملPure Spinal Epidural Cavernous Hemangioma with Intralesional Hemorrhage: A Rare Cause of Thoracic Myelopathy
Although cavernous hemangiomas occur frequently in the intracranial structures, they are rare in the spine. Most of spinal hemangiomas are vertebral origin and "pure" epidural hemangiomas not originating from the vertebral bone are very rare. Our spinal hemangioma case is extremely rare because of its "pure" epidural involvement and intralesional hemorrhage. A 64-year-old man presented with pro...
